Money × Things

SIAU

See It All. Understand.

SIAU is being built around two equally important parts of everyday life: the money that moves and the things that stay. The aim is to understand them together.

The idea

An expense record can tell you what you spent. It rarely tells the whole story of what you bought, how you use it, or what it costs to keep. SIAU began with that question: after the money is spent, what remains?

What matters

Money in context

Understand where money comes from and where it goes, with the relationships behind each record in view.

A longer view of things

Consider an item beyond its purchase: ownership, repair, sale and the investment made over its life.

Understanding, over counting

Bring money and belongings into the same picture, so keeping records can lead to a clearer sense of everyday life.

The design

Money and Things are equal parts of the design. Their connection should reveal more than either record alone, while keeping each easy to understand. SIAU takes its name from siàu, the Taiwanese word used in the language of accounts: a reminder to know where you stand.
